Tuesday Talking Points

Griffith Moorooka

The Chook Pen has a new leader with Danny Andjelkovic announced as the new Griffith Moorooka Senior Coach for 2017. Andjelkovic hails for country Victoria where he won three senior premierships as a player before joining the Gladstone Mudcrabs in the coaching ranks. The Roosters have also landed Simon O’Donnelll as Senior Assistant coach.

Jackson Gray

Sandgate ruckman Jackson Gray is heading south. The 203cm, 21-year-old has been signed by Williamstown in the Victorian Football League. That’s a huge move for Gray, being scouted for one of the strongest leagues below the AFL in the country. Williamstown have put together a highlight reel from his year in the QAFL HERE, check it out.

Wilston Grange

A lot of work behind the scenes goes on a footy club this time of year, but for Wilston Grange some of their work is there for all to see. Construction on their new change rooms is full steam ahead as you can see in the pictures. They will be living in luxury next season once the build is complete.

BnF’s

Best and Fairest season is coming to a close with the final club functions of the season now winding up. Rounding out the QAFL award winners for 2016 is Cassidy Haberfield from Surfers Paradise, who also took out the QAFL Rising Star award this year, and Sean Powyer from UQ, capping off an incredibly consistent year.

Celebrity status

On Saturday at the Youth Girls State Championships we got our first look at the majority of the Brisbane Lions AFLW team who were presented to everyone in a break between games. When the time came to grab a selfie or an autograph with the players they were swamped, proving no longer are they just Queensland footy players, but AFL stars. Check out the package the Lions put together or the presentation.
