The NEAFL season-opener between the Gold Suns and Mt Gravatt has been switched to the Gold Coast.
The two clubs were originally fixture for the brand new facility at AFLQ headquarters at Yeronga, but the Brisbane floods set back the playing condition of the new ground by two months.
Their Saturday 2 April clash will now be played at Broadbeach’s H&A Oval at 12.30pm.
It will be a stand-alone game, with the early start allowing Suns officials plenty of time to get back up the highway to Brisbane for the Suns’ AFL debut against Carlton at the Gabba that night.
Officials are hoping that Yeronga will be available for NEAFL fixtures by late May.
The opening day of the season will provide plenty of quality football for Gold Coast residents, with Labrador meeting Redland in what should be a cracking contest at Cooke-Murphy Oval at 2pm.
