Burleigh’s stay in the QWFA Division 1 competition will remain for yet another week as the side enjoyed victory once again, setting up a showdown with Coorparoo next weekend for a place in the Grand Final.
Despite being only the fifth team to qualify for the finals a fortnight ago, the Bombers have now beaten the fourth seed, Broadbeach, and third seed, Moreton Bay, to progress to a preliminary final with the Kings.
The win over the Lions came as a result of a dominant opening term where the side kicked three goals to none.
Burleigh’s 18-point margin didn’t alter in the second term as both side mustered just a solitary behind before parting for the main break.
Moreton Bay slowly wrestled their way into proceedings in the third term and nailed their first goal of the game through Briannah Jeffery. Despite their number of scoring opportunities, the side produced just 1.4 for the term as Burleigh too hit the scoreboard to maintain their lead.
Three more goals in the final term all but confirmed the win for the Bombers as Moreton Bay failed to find the scoreboard in the fourth.
The loss brings an end to Moreton Bay’s season, while Burleigh will play Coorparoo next weekend.

The Aspley Hornets have booked their ticket to the QWFA Division1 Grand Final with a resounding victory over minor premiers Coorparoo.
Having not played a game for the best part of three weeks through a last round bye and week off in the first weekend of finals, the Hornets took little time dusting off the cobwebs to run away 46-point winners.
After an arm-wrestle in the opening quarter where both sides booted one goal, Aspley laid the foundations for their win with a strong second term.
Just one point separated the two sides after the first break, but Kylie Guarino quickly found the goals to edge the home side into the lead.
The Hornets added two more before half time; extending their lead to 14 points at the main break and continued their dominance with five goals to none in the second half.
Guarino was the star of the show in front of goal for Aspley, finishing with four goals.
Aspley will now play the winner of Burleigh and Coorparoo, who play this weekend, in the Grand Final on August 26.

Robina will progress to the Grand Final of the QWFA Division 2 South competition in their first season as a team after a thrilling win over Morningside on Saturday evening.
The Roos shocked the competition to get there with their last-quarter 17-point win over powerhouse Morningisde at the East Brisbane venue.
The Panthers had lost just one game all season heading into the game, with many considering the side the runaway leaders in the division.
Robina, led by captain Hannah Blaine, caused the upset of the season, in perhaps the biggest game of the season to date as the away side dethroned Morningside in surprising fashion.
Given the Panthers had conceded under 100 points all season, it loomed likely that the contest itself would be a low-scoring game.
Neither side could even come close to scoring in a tight opening term before both added their first in the second.
Morningside held a slender lead through the second and third terms as both sides added several behinds to their total, but neither could contribute further to the goal column.
With just two points separating the two sides at the final change, Robina broke the game open inside two minutes to score the game’s third goal.
The Roos soon added two more, one through Telena Solien, in the fourth quarter to ensure a win and a ticket in the Grand Final.
Robina will now enjoy a week off ahead of the big dance while Morningside will face Mt Gravatt this week.

Mt Gravatt produced a come from behind win to keep their premiership hopes alive as the side defeated Coomera in a tense final quarter.
The Vultures trailed by as much as two goals in the opening term but clawed their way back into the game in the latter quarters to steal the win from Coomera by seven points.
Coomera got the fast start in the game, booting three opening quarter goals to one but slowed in the second half to allow Mt Gravatt to assert themselves on the scoreboard.
The Vultures, after their opening quarter meltdown, responded well in the second with two goals to one before the main break, although the side still trailed in the biggest game of the season.
The Magpies went scoreless in a tense third term as Mt Gravatt kicked truly to take the lead for the first time through Wendy Ng.
The seven-point buffer in favour of the Vultures at three quarter time remained intact in the final term as both sides added just the solitary behind before the game’s end.
Coomera’s season has now come to an end while Mt Gravatt will face Morningside for a spot in the Grand Final this weekend.

Jindalee has gotten one step closer to a premiership with a confidence-boosting win over Hinterland Blues.
Hinterland had lost two games in the regular season, but not even they proved a threat against the Jaguars, who remain undefeated in a successful 2018 campaign.
Jindalee led from start to finish in the contest as the side power toward a likely premiership triumph over the coming weeks.
The side added two goals in the opening term and fired through another three in the second to set up their commanding 58-point victory over the Blues.
The Blues on the other hand, struggled in the opening half, and remained goalless at half time.
Hinterland won out in the third term with two goals to none although a result already looked confirmed.
If it wasn’t though, it soon was early in the final quarter as Jindalee ramped up the pressure to pile on six goals in the final term – doubling their score in that time.
Jindalee will now enjoy a week off while Hinterland will face off against Sandgate for the final Grand Final spot this weekend.
Sandgate v Pine Rivers

A stout defensive effort has guided Sandgate into the second week of finals in the QWFA Division 2 North competition with a 46-poitn win over Pine Rivers at Lemke Road.
The Hawks controlled proceedings to claim the win and now have the opportunity to go one further as they face Hinterland this weekend.
Brooke Jarrott and Melissa McPhee both booted two goals for the Hawks as they ran away convincing winners in the affair.
Both players, alongside Tiana Faulkner, booted goals in the opening quarter which handed the home side an17-point lead at the first break.
The pair were also among the scorers in the second and played a significant role in establishing Sandgate’s landmark victory with another goal each in the second term.
Pine Rivers trailed by 31-points at the main break and didn’t kick a goal in the opening three quarters.
Instead, it was Anneliese Piczak and Tracey Powell who continued the barrage of Sandgate goals as the side raced away to a 45-point lead at the final change.
Pine Rivers finally got their first major in the final term through Allison Nagle as their season concluded.
Sandgate will face Hinterland Blues this weekend.
