Footy is Back on the Darling Downs!

Footy is back on the Darling Downs and the long wait for the start of the season is nearly over as football returns to our fields next weekend.

All competitions are set to return on Saturday July 11 with the release of the 2020 revised season fixtures below. The shortened 10-week season format is set to create plenty of fast paced footy.

The transfer window has been a busy one across the region, with a number of Senior Men’s sides lining up with a host of new players and many old faces returning to the region as well, setting up an exciting 50th installment Allied Pickfords Cup

All eyes will be on Rockville Oval in Round 1 with Coolaroo hosting the 2019 premiers Goondiwindi, in a Grand Final rematch with both sides wanting to take the bragging rights and confidence boost early in the season. The shortened format will no doubt see a wide open season with the seven-team competition likely to throw up a number of surprises.

The Senior Women’s competition will see the revival of the Goondiwindi Hawks women’s side, who join the competition this year. However, the question still remains if anyone will be able to stop the Toowoomba Tigers womens side from taking a record sixth straight AFLDDW title in 2020.

The revised season and a new look Finals Series will see the season wrap up with an October 3 Grand Final.
