AFLQ 150 Years
2016 marks 150 years since the formation of the original Brisbane Football Club in 1866, and the first game in Queensland.
We invite all Queenslanders and lovers of our game to join with us as we celebrate this milestone and share the stories and achievements that make Australian Football such an important part of Queensland history.
Queensland Australian Football Forensics (QAFF)
AFL Queensland has enlisted the help of the Queensland Australian Football Forensics (QAFF) to help capture and share stories, images and memorabilia throughout this anniversary year.
QAFF, a volunteer group of researchers and writers, is currently writing the 150-year history of Australian Football in Queensland. The aim is to publish their 800+ page book in July 2016, 150 years after the first game in Queensland. If you can help support this project, please contact QAFF via their website, www.q150.net.au
The 150 year anniversary provides a unique opportunity to not only celebrate the history of our code, but also the history of our clubs.
AFL Queensland invites clubs across the state to host a round or event in 2016 under the theme of homecoming.
The aim of homecoming is to provide an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions, both on, and off the field, that club players, volunteers, administrators and officials have made.
