AFL Queensland announces QFA Division 2 and 3 2019 fixtures

AFL Queensland is pleased to announce the fixtures for the 2019 Queensland Football Association Division 2 and 3 competitions.

QFA Division 2

In 2019, the Division 2 competition will comprise of ten teams and played across an 18 round season commencing on March 23.

Scheduled in line with the AFL fixture, the Division 2 season commences in line with the AFL season and concludes alongside the pre-finals bye.

The departures of Park Ridge (QFA Division 1) and Moreton Bay (Division 3) have seen Yeronga and Carrara join the competition with the two teams set to face off in Round 7 at Leyshon Park.

Carrara, who triumphed in QFA Division 3 in 2018, will have the opportunity to unfurl their premiership flag at home in a Gold Coast derby against Bond University in Round 4.

Also included in the fixture are a host of local rivalries, NAIDOC celebrations and charity matches, alongside the traditional fixtures such as ANZAC Round (Round 5), Umpire Appreciation Round (Round 6) and Sir Doug Nicholls Round (Round 9).

In 2019, QFA Division 2 sees an even split of teams across the Brisbane and Gold Coast regions meaning at least one game across every weekend will be played in each city.

Following the home and away season, a four-week finals series will commence; culminating in the QFA Division 2 Grand Final on September 31/October 1.

QFA D2

QFA Division 3

An additional two teams headline a raft of changes to the QFA Division 3 competition in 2019 which will see the competition reach new heights in the new year.

Moreton Bay, who were relegated from Division 2, along with the new additions of Gympie and Jindalee to the QFA football pyramid have seen the competition expand to ten teams.

The 18-round season will commence on April 6 and include a plethora of games scheduled outside of the traditional 2:00pm Saturday timeslot.

Hinterland will host two twilight matches in 2019 including their ANZAC showdown with Gympie in Round 3 and again in Round 17 against Pine Rivers.

Division 3 powerhouse Ipswich will also host three twilight fixtures throughout the season in Rounds 1, 7 and 13.

Gympie, who tasted the ultimate success in the AFL Wide Bay competition in 2018, will unfurl their premiership flag at home in Round 2 against Wynnum.

With Moreton Bay and Redcliffe in the same division the continuation of the Councillor’s Cup and the reinstatement of the Herald Cup for the reciprocal match between the two northside clubs.

Also included in the fixture are a host of local rivalries, NAIDOC celebrations and charity matches, alongside the traditional fixtures such as ANZAC Round (Round 3), Umpire Appreciation Round (Round 4) and Sir Doug Nicholls Round (Round 7).

Following the home and away season, a four-week finals series will commence; culminating in the QFA Division 3 Grand Final on September 14-15.
