Swap It, Don’t stop it with AFL 9s

AFL 9s has partnered with Diabetes Queensland to help promote the The Swap It, Don’t Stop It initiative, and recently took part in a family day at the Southbank Institute of Technology.

The Swap It, Don’t Stop It program is a Commonwealth Government initiate to enable people to make simple changes to their lifestyles to improve their health, and the AFL 9s program was on hand to teach a big crowd of ‘swappers’ how to play AFL and join in local competitions.

There was plenty to do throughout the day, with the AFL’s inflatable attractions setup, as well as jumping castles, and a guest appearance from Brisbane based country trio Dozzi, who performed a number of live songs throughout the day with radio station 96.5fm on hand.   Attendees were also able to get free health check, and consult with Swap It professionals to develop healthier eating plans.

The Swap it, Don’t Stop it campaign ambassador Duncan Armstrong was on hand to offer tips to Brisbane families about how daily physical activity and nutrition swaps can make a big difference to your health and wellbeing.

The AFL 9s program also provides ‘swappers’ the opportunity to join in local competitions, with the focus of having fun and getting fit while playing AFL in a social environment.
