
The AFL Queensland U16 Youth Girls State Championships have been played every year in Cairns during the month of November for the past 6 years.
Due to the initiation of an Invitational Queensland School Girls 16 years and under championships, the Under 16 Youth girls State Championships has become the Under 17 Youth Girls STate Championships.
The 16 years & under Invitational School Girls State Championships will be held in Brisbane at Everton on 20/21 April 2013. In 2012 Met North took out the Inaugural Title with U18 All-Australian Superstars Tayla Harris being named Player of the Championships.
The Under 17 Youth Girls State Championships will be held in Cairns every year on the last weekend in October. In 2012 the Championships were held on 26-28 October. From this Championships AFL Qld selected the Under 18 Youth Girls State Team for the 2013 National Championships.
Teams in the State Championships included: Brisbane Flames, Central Coast Cobras, Crusaders, North Queensland Lions, Southern Stars, Suncoast Storm.
