The Queensland Independent Schools Competition was initiated in 1991 and is now a well established quality boys' competition catering for over 120 teams and 3,000 participants.

Games are played weekdays afterschool from mid August to mid October, so as not to clash with the more traditional sports offered at such schools.

In 2012, there will be a stand alone division for the GPS Schools running in Term 2. A copy of this fixture is available by clicking on FIXTURES & RESULTS above.

The competition aims to provide students, from a mostly non-Australian Football background, with the opportunity to experience and enjoy AFL.

As Sportsmaster, I get to see many local and school-based competitions in a wide variety of sports and I am pleased to report that the AFL Queensland Independent Schools Competition is by far the most impressive. The support AFL Queensland has given us has been amazing."

Andrew Philp - The Southport School, Prep Sportsmaster & 2004 U13 Coach.

Divisional competitions (including Gold Coast, Sunshine Coasts and Darling Downs) cater for all year levels and ensure quality and even competition, allowing all schools to be competitive, regardless of their size.

Each May, AFL Queensland forwards an invitation to all South East Queensland Independent Schools to participate.

The 2012 draw for all other Indepenent schools will be available online once compelted in July.
