Bert Skuce

Bert_SkuceValleys ruckman whose best years were disrupted by World War 1. Played for Queensland from 1914-24 – a period rarely matched at State level – and captained Valleys to the 1913 premiership in an era when the game was at one of its strongest points. Originally played in the SANFL, he spent a year playing in Tasmania for the strong Zeehan club before settling in Queensland. Continued to play well into his 40s, he was always mentioned in Queensland’s best players.
