AFL Queensland has teamed up with Life Stream Australia to get kids with disabilities playing footy.
The Access All Abilities Community NAB AFL Auskick program has been designed for boys and girls aged 5-12 with intellectual disabilities and conditions including Autistic Spectrum Disorder to learn about and participate in Australian Football.
The six week program, which kicks off at Wests Juniors JAFC on October 31, is a great way to develop general motor, social skills and AFL skills in a safe and fun environment.
Participants receive a benefits pack which includes a backpack, cap, pump, footy cards with mini album and their very own AFL football.
State Auskick Coordinator Emily Wastle said the program was about making Australian Football as inclusive as possible.
“This is a fantastic initiative by our Brisbane North team who are following on from a successful Access All Abilities Auskick program delivered at Aspley JAFC in term 3,” said Wastle.
“We want children of all abilities to have access to our great game and Auskick is a great vehicle to learn skills in a fun, supported environment.”
