The #AFLQ150 Picnic in the Park

The 150 year anniversary of football in Queensland wouldn’t be complete without a birthday party.

Join us on Sunday, July 3, for the AFL Queensland Picnic in the Park at the Brisbane City Botanical Gardens the site where footy first kicked off in 1866.

Pack a picnic basket (or buy a hot dog or wood-fired pizza on the day), bring a blanket, your footy and join us for a fantastic day of free family fun.

There’ll be live music and historical displays, along with the famous AFL Inflatable Playground, snow cones, face painting and balloon twisting for the kids.

Know nothing about footy? No worries … we’ll teach you a thing or two.

So come on Queenslanders! Be part of celebrations for a great part in our state’s history and say “Happy Birthday Footy”

The World’s Biggest Junior Clinic

As part of the AFL Queensland Picnic in the Park, we’ll be running The World’s Biggest Junior Clinic. Reckon we can do it!?

This is for kids aged 5 to 12 years and comprises staggered, age-specific clinics.

Each clinic will run for 45 minutes and include fun games involving kicking, hand-balling, marking and running.

And don’t stress if your child is new to footy. Our clinics are run by trained AFL Queensland staff who are awesome at working with children of all abilities.

And while your child is participating in the Clinic, you can enjoy the Picnic in the Park entertainment or wander through the Riverside Gardens Market.

Choose from the age group links below to register your child. We’ll then be in contact closer to the date with more specific details on what to bring, where to meet, etc.

Note to clubs: the junior AFL club with the most registered participants on the day will receive a $1000 voucher from HART Sport.
